An introductory course designed to provide the basic concepts and principles of biochemistry and its applications to the field of nursing, biology and other allied health programs. The course covers the basic principles of basic molecular biology, the chemical and physical processes that occur within living organisms with emphasis on human beings. Both the chemical and molecular composition of a cell, the basic components and properties of biological macromolecules are tackled as well as their functions and metabolic processes that explain human disorders and diseases. 

For the laboratory component, a total of 6 hours will be alloted per week. This could either be composed of 2-3 meetings depending on the schedule provided.
